Our History

O God, our help from ages past and hope for years to come!

King of Kings Lutheran Church is proud to be a part of the WELS church body, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To learn more about WELS, a confessional Lutheran church body with a global reach, please visit www.wels.net.

Our Beginnings: King of Kings congregation held its opening worship service on October 2, 1960 at a local Lions Club facility in Stanton, CA. On October 4, 1964, we dedicated our current worship building on the corner of Newhope and Trask in Garden Grove, CA to the service of God. In 1965, we took a significant step by establishing an elementary school. In 1977, we helped start California Lutheran High School on our campus. It is now located in Wildomar, CA. Later, we expanded our education ministry to include preschool.

Reaching Out: In 2021, we joined hands with Pan de Vida Lutheran to share the gospel with our Spanish-speaking community. Two years later, in 2023, we initiated a Vietnamese ministry to extend the same grace to our Vietnamese-speaking neighbors. It's a testament to God's rich blessings upon our journey.

Our mission is simple but profound:

"We preach Jesus Christ Crucified and Resurrected."

This mission drives us to:

Proclaim the Truth: We are dedicated to clearly proclaiming the message of a living Savior to a world in need.

Serve with the Gospel: Whether within the church or beyond its walls, we are committed to faithfully serving you with the gospel through the Word and Sacrament.

Equip and Empower: We strive to equip you with God's truth, sharing His law and gospel. Our goal is to empower you to be beacons of light in a dark world, to walk confidently as redeemed children of God, and to shine among the people He has placed in your life.

Today, we stand as a vibrant and diverse community,

privileged to share the boundless grace of God's love for all.
